The holder hits the clamp.
Setup 2, deep bearing pocket. On the floor that is a crash or a scrapped part. In simulation it's a red frame and a clamp moved 18 mm.
Live webinar · Demo + Q&A · Thu, Nov 19 · 11:00 AM CT
On November 19, we take one aluminum gearbox housing from CAD to a cut-ready program, live. You'll watch simulation catch three problems that would have failed first article, see them fixed, and ask your own questions on the line.

Median design release to a conforming first article at Halvorsen Precision, 2026. Sample figures.
This is a working session, not a slide tour. Tom Lindqvist will have the housing open in Kerfline with the machine, fixture and stock modeled, and he'll run every toolpath in front of you. Here is what breaks, in the order it breaks.
01
Setup 2, deep bearing pocket. On the floor that is a crash or a scrapped part. In simulation it's a red frame and a clamp moved 18 mm.
02
A 0.9 mm wall deflects under the roughing pass, past its ±0.05 mm profile tolerance. We'll make the design change live and re-run the pass.
03
A ±0.025 mm bore position references a datum the setup-2 fixture never locates on. You'll see the stack, and the re-datumed fixture that holds it.
Each one is a lap around the CAD → CAM → DFM review → first-article loop. Here, each one costs minutes.
One year of new parts at Halvorsen, every round trip between CAD, CAM, DFM review and first-article inspection counted.
Three problems caught in simulation, fixed, re-simulated, released.
49 parts before, 50 after: loops, first-article pass rate, lead time.
Questions sent in with your registration go first. Then the line is open.
Can't make 11:00 CT? Reserve your seat anyway. The recording goes to everyone who registers within 24 hours.
5 weeks → 8 days
Median time from design release to a conforming first article, across 50 new parts at Halvorsen Precision in 2026, against 49 in 2025.
6 loops → 2
Median round trips back to CAD per part, from CAM, DFM review or first-article inspection.
61% → 94%
First articles that passed with zero nonconformances. 19 failed first articles became 3.
Machine time didn't change. CMM time didn't change. The days came out of the waiting and the re-cutting.
Sample figures for an illustrative customer. Halvorsen Precision Components, new part numbers released January to September, 2025 vs. 2026.
VP of Manufacturing Engineering, Halvorsen Precision Components
Renata runs a 22-person manufacturing engineering group that releases new aerospace and industrial parts into a 40-machine CNC shop. In 2025 she started tracking every round trip a new part made between CAD, CAM, DFM review and first-article inspection, and the count is why she moved Halvorsen's part release to simulation-first.
Principal Applications Engineer, Kerfline
Tom spent eleven years programming 4- and 5-axis mills in aerospace job shops before joining Kerfline, where he now builds machine and fixture models with customers. He runs the live demo, and he will be the one answering your CAM questions on the line.
