A Gulfstream G500 cabin for a family of six, nose to tail: a buildable completion package that respects the airframe.

The brief, verbatim

Project: Gulfstream G500 full-cabin completion design. Nose-to-tail. Family of six. Ultra-long-haul. A home in the air.

Laura, I want your team to design the complete interior completion for a Gulfstream G500, treated the way a real Gulfstream completions group plus a top interior design house would treat it. Not a mood board. A buildable concept package that respects the airframe. I want to walk the plane from nose to tail and see every zone outfitted, with renderings, materials, layout, and a weight-and-load discipline running underneath the whole thing.

AIRFRAME GROUND TRUTH (do this first, before any design)

  • Confirm and source the airframe. I said G500. Pull the authoritative published Gulfstream G500 numbers and work to them: cabin length, width, height, total cabin volume, max takeoff weight, basic operating weight, max payload, useful load, and the published CG/balance envelope. Cite sources. If anything you need is not publicly published, label it as an assumption, do not invent a certified figure.
  • Establish a useful-load budget for the completion. Every item the team adds to the cabin (seats, divans, cabinetry, galley equipment, lav fixtures, entertainment, soft goods, stone, wood veneer, plating) gets a weight and a station/arm. Keep a running weight-and-balance ledger as a living table through the whole design.
  • Maintain CG within the envelope across realistic loading states: empty, all six aboard with bags, full fuel for max-range legs. Flag any zone choice that pushes CG or eats too far into payload, and propose the lighter alternative.
  • Be explicit about what is notional versus certifiable. Real certification needs OEM data, a completion center, and STC/DER engineering. This package is a design concept built to respect the certified envelope, not a substitute for it. Say so plainly in an engineering-basis note so I can hand it to actual Gulfstream engineers without embarrassment.

MISSION PROFILE

  • Family of six. Long-haul is the norm, including ultra-long-range legs that require sleeping aboard.
  • The plane has to function as a home: dining together, kids with their own space, a real master suite for sleeping, a place to work, a place to gather, and the ability to berth six for overnight legs.
  • Luxury without being a casino. Restraint, craft, materials that age well. Think the quality bar in Atlas.

WALK THE PLANE, NOSE TO TAIL. Outfit every zone. For each zone give me: layout and dimensions, furniture and fixtures, materials and finishes, systems (lighting, power, IFE, connectivity, climate, water where relevant), how it serves the family, and the weight line items that zone adds to the ledger.

1. Forward galley and crew area. Full long-haul galley for catering six plus crew over long legs. Appliances, cold storage, prep surface, stowage, crew rest/seating, crew lav access. 2. Forward lavatory. Guest-facing, finishes, fixtures, water and waste considerations. 3. Forward club / dining zone. Seating for the family to eat together, convertible to work or play. Table strategy, seat count, berthing potential. 4. Mid-cabin lounge / conference. Gathering space, conference capability for me when I need it, convertible to kids' space. 5. Entertainment. Displays, audio, connectivity, content. Where screens live, how the kids consume separately from the adults. 6. Aft master suite. Real bed, privacy door, stowage, vanity, the part of the plane that has to feel like a bedroom and not a seat that folds flat. 7. Aft lavatory. Address the shower question directly: feasibility on this airframe given water weight and space, with a recommendation either way and the weight consequence stated. 8. Baggage / aft stowage. Capacity for a family of six on long trips, access, weight and balance impact.

FAMILY-OF-SIX SPECIFICS

  • Show berthing for all six for overnight legs, with the layout that makes it work.
  • Address child safety: certified seating positions, restraints, berthing safety, where the kids sit for takeoff and landing versus where they sleep and play.
  • Note any seat-count or berthing-count item that has certification implications and flag it for the real engineers.

DELIVERABLES (this is the whole nine yards, I want all of it)

  • Cabin floor plan, to scale, showing the full nose-to-tail layout with every zone labeled. Day configuration and night/berthing configuration.
  • Photoreal renderings of every zone listed above. I want to see it, not just read it.
  • Materials and finishes board: leathers, woods, stone, metals, soft goods, with weight characteristics noted.
  • Weight-and-balance summary: the running ledger consolidated into a clean table, total added weight, remaining useful load, and CG check across the loading states.
  • Systems summary: lighting, power, IFE, connectivity, climate, water/waste.
  • A spec sheet a completion center could actually receive, organized by zone.
  • Engineering-basis note stating sources, assumptions, and what is notional versus certifiable.

STANDARD Produce this as if a Gulfstream completions team and a serious interior design house built it together. Credible engineering discipline underneath, genuine design taste on top. I am going to hand this to real Gulfstream people, so the weight and load story has to hold up and the assumptions have to be honest.

What the room did

The completion dossier: the cabin drawn to scale in day and night, all eight zones walked nose to tail with renderings, the materials board, the verified weight-and-balance summary, systems, and the engineering basis against published G500 figures.
