Sketch to Runway: Two Kaftans, One Film
Two Moroccan kaftans followed from the croquis to the real garment to the runway, braided into one scored film.
The brief, verbatim
Sketch to Runway — Two Kaftans, One Film
Same arc as my couture film, new fashion. One finished film that follows two Moroccan kaftans through the full arc: fashion sketch → real garment → runway walk. The pleasure is watching the drawing become the garment and the garment own the runway. One video.
Two distinct kaftans / takchitas that play against each other — two silhouettes, two palettes, two models (two distinct casts). For each: (1) a real fashion sketch, croquis energy; (2) the sketch dissolving into the real garment — this reveal is the signature moment; (3) the garment on a cast model walking a runway. Then both arcs cut into one film, scored.
Register: Moroccan haute couture — ceremonial kaftan/takchita gravity, the real hand of the craft (randa braiding, sfifa, brocade, silk, the mdamma belt), sculptural silhouette. I want the embroidery and fabric to read as real.
What the studio made
One film: each kaftan travels the full arc, the croquis, the dissolve into the garment, the embroidery up close, the runway walk. A deep oxblood takchita owns a lantern-lit hall; A pale ivory-silk column owns a sunlit courtyard. An arc map and key frames from both kaftans ride beside it.
