Can you record me a really cool, upbeat song, something that someone could sing at a bar, a venue, or an event, but not something people are going to turn around and dance to? It's like if someone is singing in a bar or singing in a restaurant. They get paid to come in and sing, and people are just going around, having their evening, having dinner, drinks, talking, and there's a beautiful singer in the background. Can you do a song like that?
What the studio made
"The Last Warm Light": a woman's warm, conversational voice over brushed drums, a walking upright bass, soft piano and a muted trumpet on the bridge, a mid-tempo swing whose lyric quietly paints the room it is playing in. A cover of the singer at the microphone in a candlelit dining room rides with it.
