Business & Strategy · Private chef repricing
A Menu of Engagements
A private chef who hadn't raised her rates in years: the price set with the math shown, and the services put on paper like a tasting menu.
The brief, verbatim
I've been a private chef for nine years — four families, dinner parties that end in applause, and I haven't raised my rates since 2022 because every time I try, I choke. I want this done with numbers and with beauty: what my price should actually be, engagement by engagement, with the math shown so I stop negotiating against myself — and my services put on paper like a tasting menu from a two-star kitchen, so beautiful that the rate reads as obvious. Plus the note to my four families that announces it with grace, and the words for the one who'll push back. I'd rather lose one family than keep cooking at 2022 prices for all four.
What the studio made
The rate card set like a two-star tasting menu — the standing table, the private dinner, dinner parties and bespoke events, each priced so the number reads as obvious. Behind it, the repricing model in Excel and as a read-through, a private pricing tool with five levers, local market benchmarks, the graceful announcement to her four families, and the pushback script built around one rule: never a middle number.
