The Porch Club

$99 a month

Every good house has its regulars. The neighbor who comes up the steps without knocking. The friend whose mug lives in your cupboard. The Porch Club is for the people who've become that at Alder House.

Seen from between two weathered porch chairs: a small oak table with a cream teapot, two green cups, one steaming, honey and a sprig of mint, the garden past the railing.

Belonging

What belonging feels like

It feels like being expected. You come up the walk and someone looks up from the porch and says your name before you've said theirs.

It feels like your person knowing you. Paige remembering the dog. Tomas pouring your tea the way you take it. Willa telling you what came up in the garden since you were last here. Corinne asking about the thing you mentioned last time, because she remembered.

It feels like not having to start over. You don't explain yourself again. You pick up where you left off.

And it feels like the porch is partly yours. On a summer evening, when the house is quiet and the light goes long down the street, you're one of the people who might be sitting there.

A stack of folded linen and terry towels in cream, oat and sage on an old oak shelf, a eucalyptus sprig on top.

Regulars

Who it's for

People who've found their person here and want to keep seeing them. People who like a standing place in their month that's just for them. People who'd rather be a regular than a booking.

A cream enamel kettle steaming on a butcher-block counter beside a speckled teapot and two moss-green cups.

Joining

How to join

Most members join after their first visit, once they know who they'd like to keep seeing. Ask whoever you're with, or ask about it when you book. We'll talk it through with you on the porch.
